Arizona offers beautiful desert landscapes, luxury resorts, and even snowy mountain backdrops, making our state the perfect spot for a destination wedding. We have it all, right? But if you’re not familiar with Arizona there is one major factor to consider when starting your wedding… the heat. Arizona is notorious for outrageously hot Summers with record breaking temps soaring into the 120°F often. While the Summer may last 5+ months out of the year, the rest of the time offers several perfect months with amazing weather and stunning scenery.
Mid-October to early November marks the beginning of the Arizona wedding season. The Summer heat is finally slipping away without it being too cold to bear an outdoor celebration like many other states this time of year. The desert landscape is still vibrant from late summer monsoons, providing beautiful backdrops for wedding photos. November tends to be one of the most popular months for an outdoor wedding here in our sunny state of Arizona! However the last few years we have noticed monsoon season creeping into October, so if you are planning an outdoor ceremony it’s crucial to have a rain plan in your back pocket.
December, January and February are ideal for couples who prefer cooler temperatures without the snow and freezing temps. While the weather is finally perfect for those thick cozy jackets and cute beanies, we still get pockets (more often than not) of sunny days with a high of 75 during those months and I wouldn’t have it any other way. These months are perfect for intimate weddings, desert elopements, and luxury resort celebrations.
March, April and a little into May are considered some of the best months to get married in Arizona. The weather is warm but not terribly hot (yet..), the wildflowers begin to bloom, and golden hour lasts a little bit longer making the sunsets even more breaktaking than ever. April tends to be a very popular month to get married in Arizona, with dates for venues and vendors booking out well over a year in advance.
Arizona summers are hot, like unbearably hot. From May through mid-October, temperatures often hit 115°F, making outdoor weddings not only uncomfortable but unsafe. Many vendors, including myself will not take any outdoor weddings during this timeframe and many venues close for the season due to the extreme temperatures. Even sunrise celebrations are out of the question!
